Bike of the Month

Riding is His Passion

J.D. calls Oak Ridge home when he is not putting the kick stand down to play competitive level pool. His 2000 XL-C Chopper, a purchase from Knoxville Harley-Davidson in August of 1999, is a work of “Old School” Sportster™ art and undeniably “J.D.”.  Prior to his current work as the parts specialist for Knoxville Harley-Davidson, he operated a custom shop in Oak Ridge.  J.D. enjoys hanging out at “Coyote Joe’s” after work, matching wits with his biker family and showing off his ride.
Here’s what all has been done to complete his ride:
He started with a stretched frame: 4" up & 2" out, added 7° HHI triple trees with 18" over fork tubes, dual disc front brakes with deep cut rotors, Paughco 80 spoke wheels with twisted spokes, 14" ape hangers with internal wiring, 4" extended forward controls, seat by Larry Free Bailey's custom upholstery, 30" sissy bar, rigid 9.5" rear struts with a bobtail rear fender, LED tail lamp, 1200cc Buell cylinders and pistons, Buell thunderstorm heads, Screaming Eagle 536 cams, MIkuni HSR 42 carb, Screaming Eagle roller rockers, Screaming Eagle hydro-solid tappets, Screaming Eagle adjustable ignition module, Screaming Eagle clutch, Paughco upswept exhaust with 30" fishtail extensions, Maltese crosses, points, and chrome everywhere!
JD’s favorite quote is from Jim Croce, “If you dig it, do it. If you dig it a lot, do it twice.” Watch out folks! This may mean another one of his works may be coming soon.
