AT THE TRACK WITH CAJUN AND THE COLONEL
All Harley Drag Racing Association Racing Report

The All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) launched the 2008 Season with the Screamin’ Eagle Bike Week Nationals, February 29 – March 2, 2008, at the Gainesville Raceway in Florida.  The season opener brought in riders and machines from all across the country, with one team coming all the way from Japan.  Georgia was well represented by a number of “pilots”, including Eddie Lee from Winston, GA, who we’ll follow all season.

Eddie has been drag racing Harley’s for over 12 years.  His current ride is a Pro Stock Sportser on a D & G chassis that produces over 200 horsepower and top speeds exceeding 160 MPH in the quarter mile.  Eddie’s Southwind Racing Team finished 5th in the class at Gainesville.  The team suffered the tragic loss of Rick Phillips, crewmember, major sponsor, and beloved friend, just weeks before the Screamin’ Eagle Bike Week Nationals.  Rick’s company, Phoenix Crane, will continue to sponsor Southwind’s 2008 Season.  Eddie and the rest of the team are determined to continue the season and win in his honor.  Their motto this season is: “Ridin’ for Rick in ‘08”.  The Southwind Racing Team is truly a family, with a lot of heart, dedication and commitment; they’ll do Rick proud.  We’ll keep you posted as the season continues.

Crisp, clear, sunny Florida weather made for an exceptional weekend and some great racing.  Mark Connor of St. Louis, MO logged the fastest pass of the weekend, winning the Screamin’ Eagle Top Fuel class with an ET of 6.681 seconds at 189.58 mph.

There is always plenty of raw horsepower and sheer excitement whenever drag bikes compete.  AHDRA is one of the best venues for such racing.  We highly recommend you come out to experience it all and smell the alcohol, nitro and burning rubber.

Ride safe and see you at the pits,
Cajun and The Colonel
