BIKE OF THE MONTH “The Green Dragon” You know, with all the custom bikes around these days, it’s hard to tell them apart. Then there are so many bike builders making production bikes, it’s even harder to judge a bike show. But down in Elko, GA during the Dixie Bikefest bike show, we ran into a very unusual bike back in the fall that made me look twice. As I was shooting a few pics of the bike, the owner came up and said, “Whaddya think?” I knew the voice sounded familiar, and as I turned around, I saw it was Terry, a good friend of mine from Perry, GA. I smiled and said, “What have you done now”? He told me this Dragon Bike used to be his old ‘86 Softail custom. I said, “No way!” The Green Dragon was inspired by his little grandson Dawson, who thinks dragons are the best thing since diapers; therefore, the bike was born. The frame’s neck was extended 1 inch with a chrome 16 inch overall front end. Terry took a Sportster tank and extended it to fit the lines of the frame. The front and rear fender, along with the sissy bar and side shifter, were also hand made. Terry chose Dodge Charger green to be the color, and said he had one back in day and thought it would be appropriate for the bike. The engine was punched out to 96 cubes to help get this Dragon down the road. It’s good to see there are still a few guys around that are willing to shed some blood, sweat, and tears to build the bike of their dreams. Great job Terry, and ride that Dragon like she’s on fire!
