WE MADE IT

Winter is finally over and this year’s riding season is upon us! Aren’t you glad it’s here? Now you can drag that old scooter out and hit the wind. But before you do, please make sure it’s safe and everything is working like it’s supposed to.
I just got back from Daytona and had a really good time. I rode with a friend who lost the love of his life a couple of weeks ago. He said he just wanted to head south for some windshield time and to ride some grief away. I felt like he would need some company so I arranged to go with him.
We headed to Key West in 30 degree weather but by the time we got there, it was sunny and 85 degrees. This was a part of Florida that I had never seen before and it was worth it. We rode and rode and rode. In fact we logged over 2000 miles.
We got to Daytona four days later and spent three days there. You know, it wasn’t the same as it was when we went last year. So much had changed; there seemed to be less folks there and, under the circumstances, it was difficult to focus.
I have learned a lot from my friend through his loss. He demonstrated such character and had that internal strength that comes only from a relationship with Jesus Christ. It has been said that character is not made in a crisis, only revealed. We never know, any of us, what tomorrow brings, so the only way to endure something as devastating as losing a spouse is to have a relationship with the one who holds tomorrow in His hand.

He knows his wife is in heaven with the Lord because the Bible says for the believer; “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8). What about you? If your world gets rocked and devastated, will you be able to go on? There is only one way, in Christ. I wonder, do you know Him?
