CMA MONTHLY ARTICLE
My wife and I had the opportunity to take a few days to get away on a short bike trip to the mountains. The weather was much cooler up there and I always enjoy just riding the mountains at a nice leisurely pace and forgetting about any problems that I may have. The problems do not go away but up there riding thru mountains and looking over the sides and up to the top makes all my problems seem small in comparison.
We left the computers at home just to take some time to be alone with each other with no plan or schedule that we needed to keep. We have not had any time together like that in a long time due to our work schedules and trying to make events as we could. It was refreshing and very restful but as things are they have to come to an end.
We decided to get up early on Sunday morning to start our ride home. The idea was to leave early before the heat rose too high and maybe get thru Atlanta early. I normally do not go thru Atlanta unless I want to get home in a hurry and our plans were to be home early pm. We made good time for the most part of Atlanta but traffic just stopped and we crept along at a snails pace for 45 minutes. The heat coming off the bike was bad, there was not any wind blowing, and traffic was bumper to bumper. I lost the restful feeling as I started sweating and that just made it seem hotter than before. If you’ve ever been in stop and go traffic in Atlanta you can relate to what I am talking about. The coolness of the mountains seemed thousands of miles away. There seemed to be no relief in sight but then the traffic started moving. As usual, we did not come up on anything that should have caused us to be in stop and go traffic. As we began to pick up speed and the wind began to cool us I realized that as bad as the heat was it is not as bad as it could get.
The Bible describes another kind of heat that lasts for eternity. Thankfully we can make sure we do not have to endure that heat at all but we are the ones that need to make that decision. No one can make that decision for us. It is ours and only ours to make. Not sure how to proceed? Next time you see a CMA member, just ask them to help you. It is not as hot as you think here on earth.
MAY GOD BLESS
