NEW UNINSURED MOTORISTS LAW As of January 01, 2009, Georgia will adopt a law requiring auto insurers to provide revised Uninsured Motorists Coverage unless rejected in writing. The new Uninsured Motorists Coverage now provides protection that will pay for your damages in addition to the at-fault driver’s liability coverage limit up to your Uninsured Motorists Coverage limit. This coverage applies unless you elect the Traditional Uninsured Motorists Coverage (reduced coverage) that will only pay up to the difference between the at-fault driver’s liability coverage and your traditional Uninsured Motorists Coverage. Under the current Uninsured Motorists law if you are involved n an accident where the at-fault party has $25,000.00 Liability Coverage and you have $25,000.00 Uninsured Motorists Coverage you would only receive $25,000.00. Under the new Uninsured Motorists law you will be able to stack the two policies for a total of $50,000.00 coverage available. Chuck Watwood
