Abate

All too often we freedom fighters get lax come summertime. This year’s legislative session is over and there are biker events going on all around the state every weekend. Even so, this is exactly the time we should be contacting our Senators and Representatives at their homes and businesses and ask them for their support for our issues. ABATE of Georgia still has two bills that are active and will be carried over to the 2010 session starting next January. They are HB-317, Freedom of Choice and HB-617, Red Light Proceed. You can find out more about the bills on our website www.abatega.org. We still need a legislator to sponsor the bill for “Anti-Discrimination”.
            No one wants to sit at a red light and have to wait until a car comes along to trip the mechanism to change the light to green. No one should be discriminated against because he/she rides a motorcycle or wears motorcycle apparel. As Independence Day is upon us every one in America should remember that this country was founded on the principles of our basic freedoms. We should remain vigilant for our freedom to choose today!
            Pick an issue or issues that you feel strongly about and contact your legislators and ask them to sponsor or at least vote in favor of the issues you feel strongly about.
            Join us at the North Atlanta Trade Center for our July 26th Swap Meet and Bike Show. You will have the opportunity to show us how well you can ride in the bike game competitions. You will be able to learn how to ride better as Chris Burdette will be teaching some of the skills “Motorman” advocates in his “Ride Like a Pro” series. Of course, we will have live music, lots of vendors, and drinks and food will be available on site.
