Cleansing Rain
We have had quite a surplus of needed rain over the last few months. For the last several years it has been dry, so the recent rains have been welcomed in South Georgia. I have had to drive my truck to work more in the last few months than I normally do all year. I ride my bike most of the time and let the truck sit in the yard, which is not good for it but I’d rather ride the bike.
Several years ago I decided on going to an event in North Georgia and I was asked to ride with another biker. This was one of those weekends¸ when I left home I put on my rain suit and got on the bike. You guessed it, after riding over 200 miles I was still in the rain on the interstate during one of the worst monsoons we have had in Georgia. When we finally got out of the rain we were near our destination so we went to register then get setup for the weekend.
With my wife, daughter, and me we had decided to rent a cabin for the weekend which turned out to be the best thing we could have done for this particular weekend. The only problem was the mile of loose gravel road leading to the cabin from the event. I was not very skilled at riding on gravel, so I decided to cover my bike up and just ride between the cabin and the event in the truck. It started raining shortly after covering the bike and rained the rest of weekend. In fact when leaving on Sunday morning I had to put on my rain suit, and I rode another 200 miles in the rain before it cleared only a few miles from home.
I now check the weather report before leaving for an event just to see what is in store for the weekend. Don’t get me wrong, I love riding my bike even in the rain. I’d just rather it be short rides when I get caught away from home.
On one of my trips after riding thru a shower I noticed the rainbow that showed itself as a reminder that regardless of where we are GOD is with us. As I rode on and thought about the fact that GOD is with us, I started thinking about the scripture that “all men are sinners.” I am no different than anyone else. I thought about the fact that I was baptized in water and how this rain felt like GOD was baptizing me in his own way. I am still a sinner and saved by the grace of GOD. Now when I get wet riding I know that GOD is just cleansing me in his own way. GOD is so good. Are you saved by his grace?
MAY GOD BLESS
