Big Day in Lithia Springs
Hundreds of people came to the BBQ House on Thornton Road in Lithia Springs, GA for their annual Toys for Tots Drive on December 8th. A 53’ foot UPS trailer was packed with toys and a record amount of cash was raised for the US Marine Corp event.
WSB’s Capt. Herb Emory worked the airwaves to draw additional listeners to the gathering of motorcyclists, race fans, and fans of the BBQ House. Cash donations got you a chance to fire a Civil War cannon or to take a ride in Vivid Marketing’s Jeff Gordon racecar. I managed to squeeze my 6’3”, 210Ib frame through the window for a ride down Thornton Road. Believe me, getting in was a lot easier than getting out.
The Atlanta Police Department helicopter created a lot of excitement as it landed to deliver the toys that had been donated by the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club. That group really knows how to plan a grand entrance!
Next door, Harley-Davidson of Atlanta had Santa Claus and a yard sale event. As their attendees spotted our Full Throttle trailer, they came for a visit that led to additional donations.
It was a successful day for both businesses’ events, but the big winners were the children that receive aid through the Marine Corps Toys for Tots.
