Dear Alabama Riders,

Here in North Alabama, we’ve had some pretty cold weather lately.  With the cold weather and the upcoming elections, things have seemed really slow, but with all of the big events that we have coming up, it won’t take long for things to get back to normal.  I know that all of a sudden the magazine has been slammed with new advertisers and all kinds of people planning special events.  Mt. Cheaha has the Dyno Drags coming up.  This is always a fun time.  Indian Hills is going to be having their one year celebration, and Jimmy and the gang are planning a big Shindig down at Rockford, AL.  Also, Rick’s Cycles at Rainsville, AL will be having his Customer Appreciation Day.  This is always a huge event.  TNT Cycles in Millbrook, AL also has their big Customer Appreciation Day coming up, and Biker Shack 411’s 5th Annual Crawfish Boil is not far away.  Please check the Cruisin’ Calendar for all of the dates for these events as well as many others.  It is hard to believe it is only March and we have this many big events going on.

Randy and the Georgia folks have been fighting a hell of a big battle on this new legislation about custom bikes not being able to get titles in the State of Georgia.  Georgia just seems to be the first of many who will probably jump in on this issue.  I was a little surprised that somebody in Georgia did not catch this before it happened.  Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and all the rest will have to get some of this action.  So if anybody is able to keep up with what legislation is going on in Alabama, as soon as you hear about it, we better get on it or all of you that have custom bikes won’t be able to do anything with them but wipe them off with rags in your garages.

Kaye and I, along with some friends, took a trip out to Nevada this month to do some snowmobiling.  That was a joke.  We arrived in Lake Tahoe right after a storm and encountered some very beautiful weather.  The next day we had planned to go snowmobiling but that afternoon they announced there was a storm coming in.  It snowed for the next three days and up in the mountains there was four to five feet a day.  The snowmobiles could not get out with the heavy powder.  We are not able to do this during the summer so we usually take one winter trip.  The one thing I did notice, in Carson and Virginia City, the mountains and rolling roads surrounding these cities would absolutely be some wonderful riding during the summer.  I may try to get back out there this summer myself.

Well, I know that everybody is getting ready now; getting oil changed, tires put on, cables and light bulbs changed and this is a good thing.  Before you start jumping out and riding, please take the time to check your bike over thoroughly and make sure that it is functioning properly.  We want everyone to have a safe riding experience.

Ride it like you stole it.
